Transtector Systems, part of Smiths Interconnect’s Protection Technology Group, today announces the successful completion of UL 1449 3rd Edition testing on several I2R series products.
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent product safety certification organization. UL standard 1449 specifically covers Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) designed for repeated limiting of transient voltage surges. While certification is voluntary, industries like the domestic telecommunications market request UL 1449 certification for many of their applications.
“In an effort to better meet the needs of our telecommunications customers, Transtector specifically selected several DIN rail, 120 Vac devices to undergo the demanding testing procedures of UL 1449. All products feature visual and remote status indication, are RoHS compliant and available with high surge current, thermally protected MOV technology or fast acting, non-degrading silicon avalanche diodes.” explains Andrew Dawson, Vice President of Engineering.
Through its brands PolyPhaser, Transtector and LEA, the Protection Technology Group offers a comprehensive portfolio of UL 1449 3rd edition certified products. To view the complete list, please visit our website at www.ProtectionGroup.com.
