Smiths Interconnect, part of the global technology business Smiths Group, today announces that Transtector Systems continues to support leading radiation therapy and medical imaging OEMs with integrated power conditioning units that provide clean power – critical for patient safety. Transtector Systems, exceeded sales projections of $6M in 2008 and is targeting continued growth in global OEM markets for 2009.
Utility power supplies are unpredictable and susceptible to voltage fluctuations causing surges which can be devastating to key medical diagnostic equipment including advanced cancer treatment, radio surgery and x-ray imaging. Transtector Systems’ Power Conditioning product line is currently being used by a growing number of global medical manufacturers to protect critical equipment and ensure undisrupted service.
“The ability to provide medical imaging equipment a stable environment from which to produce accurate results for life saving medical and lab equipment is paramount in the design, manufacturing and quality controls that Transtector Systems places on each of our Power Conditioning systems” says Shawn Thompson, Transtector’s President. “We are pleased to be able to extend the applications of our line of quality power protection products to the medical industry.”
Transtector’s integrated power conditioning units are UL, CSA, or ESA compliant depending on customer requirements. They are intelligent voltage regulation units that distribute power to multiple inputs and outputs at adjustable voltage levels with ±2.5 percent stable energy output with tap switching, LED monitor panels and a triple shielded isolation transformer.
About Transtector Systems, A Smiths Group Business
Transtector is an international provider of power quality products including AC, DC, data and signal surge protection, communications power cabinets, EMP protection, lightning protection, and power quality engineering services. Established in 1967, Transtector was the first surge suppression designer to use non-degrading silicon diodes. Our patented, proprietary silicon avalanche suppressor diode (SASD) technology allows for less let-through voltage and lower clamp levels than other surge protection products. No one understands suppression and power quality issues like Transtector.
