PolyPhaser and Transtector Systems to Focus Global Innovation in One Facility

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

In an effort to deliver new, innovative products more quickly and effectively, Smiths Power today announced that it is concentrating all of its technology efforts for PolyPhaser and Transtector Systems AC, DC, data, RF and EMP surge protection solutions at its Hayden, Idaho facility. The resulting technology headquarters will emphasize new product development across all PolyPhaser and Transtector surge protection platforms.

Effective January 1, 2015, the company will integrate its RF design center with its manufacturing engineering and operations management.  This will help to accelerate new product introduction cycles, as well as engage PolyPhaser RF product designers into the same environment with Transtector power, data and EMP designers, resulting in strong collaboration, responsive service, and an emphasis on innovation, said Darren Torr, Vice President of Sales.

“PolyPhaser and Transtector RF, AC, DC, data and EMP global product managers will be in one location to facilitate collaboration and seamless cross-functionality,” Torr said.

Technologically, the companies will utilize cutting-edge 3D electromagnetic simulation tools to aid high-frequency design. Key PolyPhaser and Transtector technologies impacted by the change include DC pass and DC block RF surge protectors, as well as surge protection for GPS and LTE networks, AISG telemetry, and land mobile radio.

“Our customers will continue to receive the service, support, reliable products and new innovations they’re used to from PolyPhaser and Transtector,” Torr said. “Now, we’ll be even better equipped to rapidly and efficiently deliver the solutions our markets require.”
