Hayden, Id. – Smiths Specialty Engineering, part of the global technology business Smiths Group, today announces Transtector Systems has joined the EDGE™ Innovation Network, a collaborative, open-environment initiative enabling industry, academia and government to work together to enhance the delivery cycle of technology and innovation to the warfighter. Sponsored by General Dynamics C4 Systems and based in Scottsdale, Ariz., the EDGE provides facilities and laboratories for developing and testing technologies, products and system to equip a new breed of warfighter who is mobile, connected and informed.
Transtector is proud to be part of the catalyst, GD Edge, to put the best C4 E3 protected solutions in the hands of our nation’s defenders,” said Roland Oliveira, Transtector Systems/E3 Programs Manager. In joining GD Edge, we will ensure that warfighters tools and our nations critical assets are protected against wartime E3 threats.
In addition to recent innovations delivered to the U.S. Army’s Land Warrior program, the EDGE is actively monitoring over 25 projects intended to improve and enhance warfighter capabilities. One recent project demonstrated the integration of existing sniper detection systems into the Land Warrior system’s leader display. From this capability, Land Warrior soldiers can automatically receive sniper detection sensor input in their digital displays.
Richard Coupland, EDGE Innovation Network director said, “By aligning technologies and innovations of EDGE members like electromagnetic environmental effects protection with requests and feedback from warfighters and programs, we can deliver new and relevant capabilities to the warfighter faster than typical acquisition cycles currently allow.”
Members recently joining the EDGE include: Cisco Systems, Inc., San Jose, Calif.; UltraCell Corp., Livermore Calif..; QinetiQ North America Operations LLC., McLean, Va.; and Hidalgo, Ltd, Cambridge, England.
The EDGE facility officially opened in December 2006. There are currently over 50 EDGE members. More information can be found online at www.EDGE-innovation.com.
About Transtector Systems
Transtector is an international provider of power quality products including AC, DC, data and signal surge protection, communications power cabinets, EMP protection, lightning protection, and power quality engineering services. Established in 1967, Transtector was the first surge suppression designer to use non-degrading silicon diodes. Our patented, proprietary silicon avalanche suppressor diode (SASD) technology allows for less let-through voltage and lower clamp levels than other surge protection products. No one understands suppression and power quality issues like Transtector.
